After news of the passing of Luke Perry was released this morning, March 4, production was halted on Riverdale. The cast and crew were given the day off to grieve the passing of their friend and costar.
The series’ executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jon Goldwater released a joint statement earlier today regarding Luke’s passing saying, “We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Luke’s family, friends, and all those who knew him. He will be missed by many, but his work will keep him alive in all our hearts for years to come.
