Disney Finds its Live Action Ariel in Halle Bailey

Walt Disney Studios has found their Ariel! Halle Bailey will be playing the young mermaid in Disney’s live action reboot of The Little Mermaid.

Director Rob Marsall spoke out about the casting saying, ““After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role”.

The movie will feature songs from the animated classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as new songs by Menken (music) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (lyrics). Production on the new movie will begin in 2020.
