BB Exclusive: Chase Pollock Talks His New Movie, 90 Feet From Home

Newcomer Chase Pollock just released his brand new film, 90 Feet From Home. 90 Feet From Home follows the true story of a former, troubled Major League Baseball player who returns home to confront his abusive step-father.

We had the amazing opportunity to chat with the star about his new movie, how he stayed positive while filming the movie, working with Shawn Michaels and so much more. You can check out the interview below.

What was it like filming 90 Feet From Home?
“It was an amazing experience that was insightful and fulfilling even with the subject matter as challenging as it was.”

What drew you to the role of Young Scott?
“I had a lot of compassion for the character. It was an opportunity to stretch my skills and continue to grow as an actor.”

Your character goes through quite a lot in this movie, how did you prepare to bring this character to life?
“My father was physically abused by his stepfather as a child, so I was able to get some great insight from him in regards to his emotional state and reactions during that period of his life. He is such an amazing father to me, so to see him overcome his past and be able to bring that character to life was so important to me.”

You can read the rest of our interview with Chase under the jump. The movie is set to premiere in San Antonio on August 3 at the Tobin Center.

The story is pretty dark, how did you go about making sure you didn’t let the darkness envelop you while filming?
“I have managed to establish a really good habit of being balanced when I was on set or off set. Sometimes it’s difficult to balance because of the subject matter and the scenes I had to film, however I try my hardest to leave it on the set.”

What was it like working with Shawn Michaels, who plays Scott’s step-father?
“It was an incredible experience, I was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work with him. He is a very kind gentle man who made our violent scenes possible to handle and endure together.”

Was there something while filming “90 Feet Home” that really had a major affect on you personally and/or professionally?
“Yes! I had the opportunity to talk through the scenes with the person my character was based on. Having him on set for part of the shoot was a blessing. He is also a very kind and wonderful human being.”

Why should audiences see 90 Feet From Home?
“It’s a great story about leaving your past in the past and moving forward with life.”

Is there a genre or person that you would love to work with in the future?
“I would love the opportunity to work with Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s an amazing actor and I love his work in all genres.”

You started your career in theatre, do you have any interest in possibly returning to it?
“My focus for now is definitely screen acting but it is absolutely something I would love to revisit in the future. I enjoy bringing any character to life in any setting.”

What is next for Chase Pollock?
“I’m currently collaborating with one of my previous directors on a feature film for next year. It’s a really exciting script and I can’t wait to begin filming. I am also auditioning like crazy and looking for other new opportunities to explore.”
