BB Exclusive: The Amazon Prime Video Experience Is Well Worth The Wait At SDCC

San Diego Comic Con kicked off in full force today, July 17, with the first of four days filled with panels, exclusives, and offsite activations. BeautifulBallad had the wonderful opportunity to check out one of the amazing offsites offered at the Convention this year, the Amazon Prime Video Experience.

This immersive experience from the streaming site included a food truck, churros, fun souvenirs, and three activations, which celebrated two of Amazon’s new original series, The Boys and Carnival Row, along with the fourth season of it’s hit show The Expanse.

When you enter the experience for the first time, attendees will be presented with a set of coins that they will be able to use to purchase food and performances. Be sure to chat with actors, actresses, and workers throughout the experience because those coins can be used for specials items as well. If you land a gold coin, make sure to find someone fast because you will receive an extra special prize!

From there, attendees can make there way through the three activations created for the experience. For those who have participated in activations from Amazon in the past, you will find an old friend in the activation for The Boys. This activation is pretty much an escape room on steroids, but without a time limit. Attendees are tasked with putting the pieces of a puzzle together after Supers destroyed a local electronic store.

The Carnival Row activation is the most immersive of the three, but the wait to get into this is by far the longest. When entering the line for the activation, attendees are presented with a “human” or “creature” card that will direct them where they need to go when entering the activation. However, due to the limited amount of people allowed to enter in at a time, the line gets long rather quickly. That being said, for a possible shorter time in line, choose the human card. Once inside, attendees spend their time between a market place flooded with creatures and humans and the Carnival Row bar. The acting was superb in this experience and attendees with be mesmerized by the young lady singing inside.

The final activation in the experience belongs to The Expanse. This activation asks attendees to help Earthers find a missing member of their team by splitting them into groups to question the Belters. What makes this experience so unique is that no two experiences are the same. Meaning, an attendee could enter this experience multiple times and get a different experience each time.

Overall, the Amazon Prime Video Experience is a fun way to spend your day in between panels at the convention. It’s fun, immersive, and does a great job at promoting Amazon’s upcoming Video slate. Plus, in the middle of the experience is The Tower. The Tower will feature performances dedicated to the three shows throughout the day.
