REVIEW: Fall in Love with Netflix’s Falling Inn Love
Fall is right around the corner and what better way to kick off the cooler weather than a cheesy romantic movie? Netflix has the movie just for you. Today, August 29, Netflix releases its new romance, Falling Inn Love. It’s the story of Gabriela, an eco-conscious business executive from San Francisco who enters a contest to win an Inn in New Zealand after she loses her job and boyfriend in the span of one week. She wakes one morning to find the congratulatory email and packs her bags to head to New Zealand to begin her new adventure. What Gabriela expects to be a quick trip turns into so much more.
Christina Milian stars as Gabriela. Milian brings optimism and positive energy to life as Gabriela and she revels in the role. Adam Demos is the perfectly dreamy handyman/contractor, Jake, who swoops into assist Gabriela with her new inn. From his good looks to his swoon worthy accent, Adam was a great choice to play Jake. What makes a good romantic comedy is the chemistry between the two leads and Demos and Milian have it in spades. The two seem comfortable with each other and lean in just enough to the cheese factor without making a scene seem too cheesy.
The film is relatively short so at times the story is rushed. Characters pop in and out, much like a revolving door, that it is hard to remember who is who and the purpose they serve. The movie is supposed to be a feel-good romantic comedy so overall the secondary characters aren’t that important. Netflix gets it right with their adorable leads that you don’t mind the lack of a real plot.
If you are looking for a well-crafted, deep thinking film, skip this option on your Netflix list. However, if you want a movie that will just make you feel good, get yourself a blanket and snuggle in because this film will check all those boxes.
