Taylor Swift Blocked From Performing Her Music At AMAs
Taylor Swift took to her Instagram story today, November 14, to update her fans on her upcoming performance at the American Music Awards on November 24. Taylor is set to be honored as “Artist of the Decade” and she was aiming to perform a medley of her past hits.
However, as Taylor shared with her fans today, she was told she couldn’t perform her older material still under her former label, Big Machine Records. Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta of Big Machine believe if Taylor were to perform her old songs the performance would be considered re-recordings, which would then violate the contract made with Big Machine. The pair has apparently blocked Taylor from performing these hits.
Big Machine currently owns Taylor’s old masters and she isn’t able to re-record them until November 2020. Taylor is asking her fans and the artists who are managed by Scooter Braun to speak out and share their frustrations over this issue.
This certainly won’t be the last word on the matter, hopefully Taylor is able to perform the songs she wants to perform during her AMA honoring.
