BB Exclusive: Black Lightning’s Jordan Calloway Talks Playing Painkiller, Jennifer & More

Jordan Calloway was first introduced onto Black Lightning as Khalil Payne, Jennifer Pierce’s (China Ann McClain) interest, but at the end of Season 2 things took a dramatic turn for the character. Now, in Season 3, Calloway is no longer playing Khalil, but an emotionless killer named, Painkiller.

We had the chance to sit down and chat with Calloway about playing this new character, the difference between Khalil and Painkiller, what is going to happen if and when Painkiller runs into Jennifer, the emotional scene between Painkiller and Khalil’s mother, and so much more.

Calloway is so passionate about this character and everything has happened to him, it was such a joy listening to him talk about being a part of this show. What I also love is how much respect he has for both Khalil and for Painkiller. The two are drastically different, but you can tell that he gives his all no matter which one he is portraying on screen.
