REVIEW: Vanessa Hudgen’s “The Knight Before Christmas” is a Fun Addition to the Holiday Scene
The holiday season is in full swing on Netflix and their next movie, The Knight Before Christmas is ready to gallop onto the holiday scene. Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Josh Whitehouse and Emmanuelle Chriqui, the story is a lovely addition to the holiday romance genre. Hudgens stars as Brooke, a teacher recently heartbroken and not looking for love. When Sir Cole, a knight (Whitehouse) arrives on the scene, Brooke’s life is upended. Sir Cole has been transported from 1334 to 2019 and is out to complete his quest so he can return home to his family. Brooke and Sir Cole band together to each help the other learn a bit more about love and life’s challenges.
Hudgens returns for a second holiday movie from the streaming giant and may just be making a move to establish herself as queen of the holiday romances. Hudgens’ first Netflix Holiday movie, The Princess Switch, was released last year and was an immediate hit with fans. This new role she is playing is slightly different, only one character to portray this time, the outcome is the same. Hudgen’s performance is fun, captivating, and charming. Audiences will be cheering for her from start to finish.
It also doesn’t hurt that she has great chemistry with her costar, Whitehouse. Whitehouse fits the bill as this holiday film’s leading man. Good looking and charming, he and Hudgens play well off one another. Chriqui rounds out the main cast as Brooke’s older sister. She plays the lovable, albeit worried, big sister well and has a nice rapport with Hudgens, almost as if they’re long-time friends.
The Knight Before Christmas is a new film fans can add to their annual holiday movie watching list. There are moments that will leave you thinking, “Of course that would happen”, but it will also leave you feeling a little lighter. It is a good movie to cuddle up to and drink a nice steaming cup of hot cocoa.
