The long and winding road of healing and reconciliation has brought me to this moment where I feel strong enough to talk about my experience openly, honestly and without shame. By sharing my story, hopefully I can empower others to seek help and extricate themselves from abusive relationships. Everyone deserves to be loved void of violence, fear and physical harm. @futureswithoutviolence

Melissa Benoist has shared an emotional video with her fans today, November 27. Melissa took to her social media to share her experience with domestic violence.

Melissa was in a relationship that not only took a toll on her physically, but emotionally as well. Thankfully, the star spoke out on the relationship and was able to get herself out of it.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to speak out on domestic violence, so kudos to Melissa for embracing those qualities and sharing her experience. It is not easy, but she did it! I hope by her speaking out, others who are in the same situation will also speak out.
