Lizzie McGuire Creator Steps Down as Showrunner

Lizzie McGuire has lost its showrunner. Creator Terri Minsky has stepped down as showrunner of the new Disney+ series citing creative differences.

A source has told Deadline, “Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show,”

The show’s lead, Hilary Duff, is currently on her honeymoon so production is currently shutting down until she returns. It will be interesting to see if Disney+ keeps the first two episodes shot or if they will toss them and start over.
