REVIEW: Grown-ish Season Three Is All About Adulting For Zoey & The Gang
The new season of Grown-ish kicks off tonight, January 16, on Freeform and fans of the hit show won’t be disappointed. Titled, “Crunch Time”, after spending the summer getting ahead of the job game in the United Kingdom, Zoey returns back to Cal U and all the drama she created at the end of the previous season. Despite her intentions to try and avoid the drama, she manages to get herself into even more trouble before receiving a few wise words from her boss.
All our favorite characters are accounted for in the season premiere. Each one is trying to adjust to their Junioir year at Cal U and everything that comes with it. Aaron (Trevor Jackson) is especially taking the adjustment hard after Doug (Diggy Simmons) reminds him that, unlike the rest of them, this is his final year at the school. The chemistry that Simmons and Jackson bring to the table lead to some of the very best scenes in the episode.
The episode is charming and it does a nice job of providing a clean slate for most of the characters to start off from this season. A lot of Zoey’s story from Season two gets wrapped up in the first half of the episode, which leaves her with so much potential in the new season. I am really excited to see what the writers have in store for her character this season. As for our other characters, nothing is established for any of them until the last 2 minutes of the episode, which is quite the doozy.
It will be interesting to see where the season goes, but if it is anything like those final few minutes, fans are in for a lot of fun! Here’s hoping that Junior year will be a great one for our characters and a great one for fans as well.
