ADVANCE PREVIEW: “Sacred Lies” Returns with Best Season Yet in “Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones”

Facebook Watch is set to premiere Season 2 of its hit half hour series, Sacred Lies tomorrow, February 20, and this season may be better than the last. Entitled, Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones, this season follows Elsie (Jordan Alexander) who has spent a majority of her childhood in and out of foster homes. When she finally is reunited with her father (Ryan Kwantan), Elsie attempts to build a bond with him, but he may be hiding a secret that could shatter their relationship forever.

While all this is going on, another storyline is playing out featuring Juliette Lewis’ character, Harper. Harper is a nobody who splits her time between making insurance cold calls and running her website. Her website is her passion and it is dedicated to helping solve Jane Doe mysteries. When she comes across one particular Jane Doe, Harper sets out to find out the identity of this woman and what happened to her.

The Singing Bones
, like the show’s first season, does a nice job in each episode slowly building the mystery. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale by the same name and real life murder cases, this season feels like a true crime podcast unfolding onscreen. Each episode contains a new puzzle piece that you will need to help you unravel the mystery. Viewers will feel like they are working alongside Juliette Lewis’ character, Harper, as she hunts down the truth behind her Jane Doe and how her story interconnects with Elise.

Lewis is the clear standout in this season. Her portrayal of Harper will have viewers yelling alongside her as she runs into road block after road block when it comes to her Jane Doe. Alexander’s portrayal of the angst Elsie may leave some shaking their heads at sometimes, but will leave others feeling sorry for the young woman and all that Elsie has gone through over the years.

The Singing Bones, like the first season, will be released one episode at a time, but you may want to wait until the full season is released to binge watch it. For those willing to brave watching the episodes a week at a time, good luck. They are still only half an hour long, but they will leave you wanting to turn on the next episode immediately. As I said earlier, I would suggest binge watching it, but however you want to watch it is up to you. And for those who did not watch the first season, don’t worry! You will not need to watch the first season to understand this season.
