REVIEW: Frozen 2 Comes to Life, Again, On Blu-ray and DVD
Today, February 25, Frozen 2 is released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD and the movie is just as good, if not better, the next time around. Filled with a great story and even better bonus features, Frozen 2 will have the whole family, or just yourself, tuning in for a movie night.
Frozen 2 opens with Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) hearing a mysterious voice calling out to her. She isn’t sure where the voice is coming from but she feels connected to it. In her efforts to locate the voice, Elsa draws the ire of the spirits of wind, fire, water, and earth.
These spirits force the people of Arendelle to flee their kingdom and prompt Elsa to set out on a quest with the help of Anna (Kristen Bell), Olaf (Josh Gad), Sven, and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). The group believes finding the voice will save the people of Arendelle. Along the way they run into new characters, including Sterling K. Brown’s Lieutenant Mattias and Martha Plimpton as the leader of the Northuldra tribe, come face to face with characters from their past, and learn that there are many sides to every story.
The nice thing about watching movies like Frozen 2 on DVD is you get to relive certain scenes over and over again. For me, most of the musical numbers were on repeat, which was perfect because one of the bonus features on the DVD was “Song Selection”. This feature allowed me to skip right to the musical number I wanted without going through the entire movie. Can you guess which song I had on repeat most?!
The DVD and Blu-ray also features a number of deleted scenes and songs including Kristoff’s (Jonathan Groff) “I Wanna Get This Right”. This song follows Kristoff as he tries to make sure everything is perfect before he proposes to Anna. One of my pet peeves from Frozen was we did not get many musical numbers from Groff. Frozen 2 made up for that error with “Lost in the Woods” and now it has made me love it even more with adding a second number for Groff. Even though “I Wanna Get This Right” didn’t make the original cut, it should definitely be one of the first things you check out when you bring home your copy.
Frozen 2 is the perfect movie to watch with friends and family, so make sure to grab your copy STAT! If you loved the movie in theaters, you will definitely love owning Frozen 2 for yourself. Under the jump, you will find a full list of goodies that can be found on the new release and make sure to let us know which feature was your favorite after you dive into them.
