Take Your First Look at Valley Girl starring Ashleigh Murray and Chloe Bennet
Entertainment Weekly has released the first look at the remake of Valley Girl. Based on the 1983 hit movie, the new version sees Jessica Rothe and Josh Whitehouse stepping in to play Julie and Randy, who were played by Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage in the original movie.
According to EW, “The remake keeps the spirit of the 1983 film while introducing a few tripendicular changes: The new Valley Girl is a jukebox musical, with elaborate sequences set to ’80s hits like the Go-Go’s “We Got the Beat,” Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and a-ha’s “Take On Me.” It also reimagines some of the songs that made up the original’s killer New Wave soundtrack, including the Plimsouls’ “A Million Miles Away” and Modern English’s “I Melt With You.””
Ashleigh Murray, Chloe Bennet, Mae Whitman, and Jessie Ennis are also set to star in the new movie. Valley Girl will be released digitally on May 8. The movie’s trailer will be released tomorrow, April 16.
