The CW to Kill Off Kate Kane to Make Way for New Batwoman Character?

It looks like the CW may have decided how they will handle the departure of Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane on Batwoman. Rumor has it, the character will be killed off at the beginning of the second season.

The Direct is reporting, “…Kate Kane will die in the second season of Batwoman, although the details of how are currently unknown.”

The site is also reporting, “Jonathan Crane AKA Scarecrow as a villain in Season 2, with casting for the role now underway. Scarecrow will be responsible for the murder of Ryan Wilder’s mother, which motivates her to want to become Batwoman.”

So if they do kill off Kate, where does that leave Alice and our Season 1 villain, Hush? Also, if true, I wonder why they chose to kill her off? Any thoughts?
