EXCLUSIVE: Coming 2 America’s Wesley Snipes Talks General Izzie, Fight Scenes and More

With the release of Coming 2 America today, March 5, Wesley Snipes opened up about joining the highly-anticipated sequel. The actor talked his major fight scene in the movie, his look for General Izzi and what his favorite part from Coming to America was.

Let’s talk your fight with the ladies of Zamunda. Were the ladies, Bella Murphy, KiKi Layne, and Akiley Love, hesitant about it? “No, I don’t think they cared about that at all. From what I remember and the Bengay.”

What about your look for the movie? Did you discuss General Izzi’s look or was that some that you just thought you would try? “We discussed it. Stacy Morris [Hair department head] and I had a good discussion about it. You try to find a little bit of a traditional, ancient and some animal reference to it. So he had a Ridgeback type of hair do. A Rhodesian Ridgeback look.”

What was your favorite part from the first movie, Coming to America? “I have to admit that in the original, I was most impressed and most delighted by the opening sequences of the African dance scenes, or the African dancers. That big pomp and circumstance and regalia, I love that. That stood out the most to me.
