EXCLUSIVE: Victoria Justice Chats her New Movie, Trust
Today, March 2, Vertical Entertainment released its brand new movie, Trust. The new movie stars Victoria Justice, Matthew Daddario, Katherine McNamara and Lucien Laviscount and we got the chance to sit down with Justice and talk about her new movie.
During our chat we also talked Brooke’s costume, her input on crafting the character and so much more. Check out what she had to say below.
Talk to me about what drew you to the role of Brooke?
“First of all, I’ve always wanted films that are filmed that New York, and New York at Christmas time is even more magical. And I loved my character Brook because she’s obviously flawed in some ways, and has her insecurities and doubts. I think what she goes through is very relatable, all people can relate to. She’s also very hardworking and strong minded, she is a boss in a lot of ways. She has a great sense of style, she owns an art gallery, she was making moves, and I respect all these things about her very much. Plus, I was very intrigued by the story.”
Did you have any input on crafting Brooke?
“Yeah. Our director, Brian [DeCubellis], I keep singing his praises because he’s just so fantastic to work with. Such a kind person, and he was super collaborative. I always love working with directors that are like that, there was no ego there, it was a team effort. He wanted us to also be comfortable, and as far as the dialogue even went, to say things in a way that felt comfortable to us. If we needed to change little things, that was really cool. So, it was very much a collaboration, open to our own interpretation, he was very open to all of our ideas, which was great.”

What about Brooke’s style?
“It was so exciting, and so much fun and again, just super collaborative, which I love. I loved Brooks wardrobe so much, I feel like it totally captured a young 20 something woman who is making boss moves and is in the art world. My clothes had character to them and my jewelry was cool.
I wore this one necklace that had the Chrysler building on it. There was paying a homage to New York in a lot of ways. I loved my clothes so much. And, these one pair pants didn’t get featured a ton, but they were these black pants when I’m in the restaurant with all these reflectors all over the bottom, and they were so cool.”
What would you say your biggest obstacle was while filming this movie?
“The cold. Matt [Daddario] and I had to film some scenes outside, dead in the winter of New York. The scene where I’m showing him the napkin and I’m like, ‘Really? You don’t remember?’ I watched it back, and I laughed, because my face is so frozen that I could barely move my mouth. Those nights were a little tough.’
