EXCLUSIVE: Nico Tortorella Talks the Final Season of Younger, Playing Josh & So Much More

Yesterday, April 15, the final season of Younger dropped its premiere on Paramount+. To celebrate the release, Nico Tortorella chatted about the final season of the show, what he will miss most playing Josh, his favorite character, and so much more. Check out the chat below.

What can fans expect to see from the final season of Younger?
“Well, more than anything, I would say love, entertainment, and really, just some incredible closure for all of these characters. Not that this is the end end, because who knows what’s going to happen, but it’s a good end for now.”

What will you miss most about playing Josh?
“His heart, really. I think the way he approaches his life, his relationships, his life as a parent come from such an incredible place and it’s been refreshing to bring that level of masculinity and emotionality to television. And more than anything, I’m going to miss this cast. We really do love each other.”

Why do you think Younger was such a beloved show?
“It’s joyous. It’s optimistic at its core. In a time when the world is quite literally on fire, we all get to go and escape through the fantastical lens of Darren Star and the characters these writers have created. It reminds us all to seek the joy in our lives.”

Who was your favorite character?
“Hands down, Lauren. Molly Bernard as Lauren. I mean, she is just maybe one of the greatest characters on television. I said it. I said it.”

How are you and Josh similar?
“Well, I would say we both lead with love and openness.”

What was your favorite memory from set?
“One of my favorite memories from shooting in general is when we were in Ireland. Right after we wrapped, Sutton [Foster] and I went on a road trip to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway. We just spent the day driving across Ireland and stopping at little towns along the way and little castles. For our personal relationship, and also Josh and Liza, it was just one of those moments that just was magical. Unbelievable that we were able to shoot in Ireland in the first place, but then we had the time to go and explore. Perfect.”

What will you miss most about shooting in New York?
“I plan on continuing to shoot in New York City. This is my home. So I am not going to miss anything because I’m going to keep doing it. And my favorite place to shoot in New York? I mean, we shot the majority of my stuff in Williamsburg, which will always hold such a special place in my heart, so I’m going to say Williamsburg.”

What was your favorite Josh outfit this season?
“Josh was wearing a lot of Saint Laurent and just black jeans, black boots, black leather jacket, just staple James Dean, biker Josh. It’s a win. That’s a win.”
