The Flash and Riverdale to Hold 5 Episode Events in the Fall
The Flash’s eighth season and Riverdale’s sixth season are going to kick off with a five episode event! The CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz shared the news with press today, May 25.
Regarding The Flash, Pedowtiz revealed “The idea for The Flash is, [showrunner] Eric Wallace and [executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] have come together and are talking about other superheroes from the CW-verse who will come together in each individual episode. It will not be quite be a crossover but will have a crossover-type feel and the introduction of all these characters.”
In regards to Riverdale, no precise plans have been made but Pedowitz did share that Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will come to them with how he plans to make those five episodes even more special than usual.
Both shows will wrap production on their current seasons this coming June/July. The November premieres for both seasons will give the shows time to enjoy their hiatus before having to come back to film their respective seasons. This all means that we are only getting five new episodes this Fall and not the typical 8+.
Also, I’ve heard that they have reached out to Cress William to return as Black Lightning for one of The Flash episodes, but he has yet to accept the offer. It will be interesting to see if he says yes, I still get the feeling that something else was behind the cancelation of Black Lightning, but I’m hoping he will.
