EXCLUSIVE: Brooklynn Prince Talks the New Season of Home Before Dark with BB
The second season of AppleTV+’s Home Before Dark is right around the corner and we got the chance to chat with the star of the show, Brooklynn Prince about her new season. During our chat with the young actress, we talked what was to come for Hilde this season, if she got to help craft Hilde this season, Season 3, and so much more.
Can you give us a brief overview of what’s to come for her Hilde in the second season?
“Hilde has a lot coming for her this season. She is obsessed still with the Richie Fife case, but also is uncovering a new environmental mystery which overlooks corporate greed. And, it touches on a bunch of topics in 10 episodes, which is really cool.
What will Hilde have to deal with this season?
“Hilde is learning how to be a person with relationships, she is learning how to be a home person and a working person at the same time while being there for her grandfather and everyone she loves.”
Hilde is trying to balance her professional life and her personal life at the same time at such a young age. For you, which one were you most excited to delve into this season?
“I’ve always played the journalist Hilde so I was really interested in playing the relationship side of her because you see more of a heart. She’s becoming a big sister, a little sister, and putting more effort into those things as she’s dealing with her journalism, which over the course of the season, she realizes is just as important as getting the story, or even more important.”

Do you feel this season you have a little bit more freedom crafting the character and giving input on the direction she goes in?
“I have been really lucky to work with Dana [Fox] and Joy [Gorman Wettels], the main writers and producers. Everyone, even down to the costumes, were ‘Oh, do you think this speaks Hilde to you? Do you think Hilde would wear this or that?’ Luckily, I have been able to have a say on Hilde and I’ve been able to collaborate with Dana and Joy on Hilde, which you don’t always get to do. I have been so lucky to put myself more into Hilde and be able to craft more of her.”
Is there a part about her this season that you’re most excited for fans to see?
“I’m excited for them to see her and Pop Pop, because you don’t see a lot of that in season one. You see some of it, but this season she has some really, really great moments with Pop Pop. She has some really great moments with everyone. It’s spread out. She has great moments with her friends and her little sisters and her just uncovering the truth of being this little girl who’s running the world. It’s just amazing to see.”
What would you say was your biggest obstacle filming the season?
“You always have the little things in life that are in your way but you can always get past them really quickly. I think for me, Hilde goes through a rough time this season and I’ve gone through a rough time too. So putting myself into her and it’s mentally exhausting, but you get her and I wanted to put myself into her. I worked with her to make that..
For you, where do you hope to see Hilde go if we do get a season three?
“I really don’t know. I think Hilde can accomplish the world and I hope that Hilde solves this great big story that’s going to make the world appreciate her. That everyone appreciates her and that she gets 13 medals of honor for being the best reporter in the world.”
Hilde is an inspiration to so many young ladies out there and for you yourself, do you have an inspiration that you shape your life after or you look up to?
“I’ve always wanted to be a director. I directed my first short film back a couple of years ago and I wanted to make more and more and I’ve been working on a few things. So I’m trying to make that, I’m trying to get that as I’m a kid and yeah, that’s what I aspire to be.”
Why do you think fans should tune in for the second season?
“I think they should tune in for the second season because they will not be let down with anything. There’s great new stories, great new plot lines. You see all the characters. There’s a character arc. There’s moments that you feel happy, your heart warms and then there’s moments where your heart breaks and then there’s moments where that heart puts itself back together and then just glows. Then there’s parts where you want to scream at the top of your lungs ‘Yes’, or scream at the top of your lungs ‘No'”.
