REVIEW: Olympic Dreams featuring Jonas Brothers is a Olympic Win
The Jonas Brother are going for gold in NBC’s new special, Olympic Dreams featuring Jonas Brothers, and, it’s the fans that really achieve gold in this! The special finds Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas competing against one another in three different Olympic events, Hurdles, Gymnastics, and BMX, to prove who is the better brother.
The three events chosen for the special feature appearances from athletes who have made names for themselves in their respective sports. Laurie Hernandez, Olympic Gold Medalist in the Gymnastic Team All-Around, helped coach the boys in Gymnastics, while Nastia Lukin, Olympic Gold Medalist in Gymnastic Individual All-Around, judged the competition. For hurdles, Sydney McLaughlin, future Olympian, and Sanya Richards-Ross, Gold Medalist in Track & Field, helped get the boys prepped for their run and Alise Willoughby, BMX Olympic Silver Medalist, showed the boys how to navigate the BMX track. Rich Eisen and Terry Crews provided commentary for the events and brought the laughs.
The boys’ banter is the clear winner in this special. No matter the event, the boys will have you laughing from start to finish. The trio go from bickering with one another one minute to supporting another the next and we are just along for the ride. They all are extremely competitive, but there is nothing malicious about their comments or actions. The boys enjoy picking on one another, but, in the end, you can tell they love one another.
The other great thing about the special is it sheds light on just how much training these athletes go through to get where they are today. The three events they boys compete in are no walk in the park. Though they may seem easy on the surface, if not properly trained, you can end up injuring yourself or someone else. It is truly remarkable to think about, but to see first hand is a sight to see.
Fans of the Jonas Brothers, who didn’t get to catch it during the Easter Time Zone, will get a kick out of tonight’s (July 21) special. It is funny and just the thing we need to get us prepped for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
