Disney+ Orders Series For Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Disney+ has given a series order to Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The hit book series from Rick Riordan, which was adapted into a film series in 2010, will be getting a a breath of fresh air on the streaming site with Riordan and Jon Steinberg writing the pilot episode and James Bobin directing.

According to the press release, “Geared towards a general audience and especially tweens, teens, and young adults, the live action series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.”

Casting will begin soon on the newest production, but Disney has yet to announce a production date or potential release date for the series.
