EXCLUSIVE: Manny Jacinto Opens Up About his New Movie, “I Want You Back”
Amazon Studios’ I Want You Back follows a two strangers who unit to win back their exes. However, to win back their exes, the two must convince their exes new lovers to fall for them instead.
We got the chance to talk to one of the “new lovers”, Manny Jacinto about working with his castmates on the movie, tips he learned while filming and so much more. Check out what he had to say below.
On working with the cast: “It was seamless, I feel, being able to get along and work with each other. We were very open with one another, I feel, right off the bat. It was so smooth, I think. We just so happened to work really well.”
On whether he was inspired by other drama teachers during his performance: “No. I just knew that we all have this guy that’s kind of obsessive over a certain subject or craft, and I just really honed in on that. I’ve went to school with this guy. I have this guy as a friend. I knew who this guy was. But thankfully with Jason [Orley] and Isaac [Aptaker] and Elizabeth [Berger], I didn’t push it too much. We made it, we still made Logan more well rounded and we were able to just give him more than just this obsessive personality, which is always really great to have. And also Jenny [Slate] helped me a lot with trying to discover this guy as well. But also again, going back to the long hair, it was a lot easier to get into that character with those luscious locks.”

On the Valentine he would send to fans to promote I Want You Back: “Roses are red, violets are blue, if you don’t see this movie, it sucks for you.”
On any tips on love he learned from I Want You Back: “The first thing that I can think of is, it’s okay to spend time alone sometimes and to grow a little bit and to really find yourself before you find somebody else to love you, because at the end of the day, I think you need to love yourself before somebody else can give you that love that you truly deserve. Also that and threesomes aren’t for everybody.”
On his go-to karaoke song: “I don’t know. I like a good ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet. A mix of rapping, some funky grooves, and singing.”
