Rachel Zegler Not Attending the Oscars?

It looks like Rachel Zegler is not attending the Oscars next weekend. The star alluded to the sad news while responding to a fan on Instagram this weekend.

The fan shared how excited they were to see Zegler’s outfit for the upcoming ceremony, taking place this Sunday, March 27, when Zegler shared the news. Zegler stated, “I’m not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel”. When fans expressed their outrage the actress went on to say, “IDK y’all I have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I will root for ‘West Side Story’ from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago. I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. thanks for all the shock and outrage — I’m disappointed, too. but that’s OK. So proud of our movie.”

West Side Story is nominated for Best Picture at this year’s award show as is Zegler’s costar, Ariana DeBose. Not sure why she isn’t invited if the movie is nominated. My guess is it has to do with COVID protocol, but who knows. There is still a week until the show so she still could be invited.
