The Ladies From Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Cover FLAUNT Magazine
The ladies of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin are featured in individual articles for FLAUNT magazine. The ladies hit series recently premiered on HBO Max and they took time out of their busy schedules to chat about it. Highlights from their interviews are below.
Bailee Madison on the show being female driven: “On our show, our first AD was a woman. It was an incredibly women-driven set, which I think is amazing and still so rare to get to have. It was odd when I first walked in like that—it was a wild thing to experience. A set where you look out and you feel like you’ve represented people on your show. I think you realize in that moment, just how much you haven’t seen that.”
Chandler Kinney on the representation found within the series: “These five girls are layered and complex, and they all are dealing with their own various traumas and backstories. It’s definitely the kind of show that I would’ve wanted to see growing up. I think it will help people feel less alone, and give visibility to young girls growing up in today’s world—because that can be horrifying in and of itself.”
Zaria on joining the PLL world: “I’m honored to be able to step into a fandom. To step into an already revered piece of art, because I think the most inspiring part of art is that it inspires more art. It’s really exciting to be able to take up that mantle for people that worked so hard on a series that people loved. So maybe I’m a bit too naïve to be scared yet, but I’m really excited.”
Malia Pyles on being cast as Minnie: “I was actually the last of the Liars cast, I got the audition for Minnie and already felt such a kinship to her. I had an attitude going into the process of being like, ‘If this doesn’t work out, it’s okay,’ but I’m just happy that this character is being written because she’s Asian-American.”
Maia Reficco on being homesick while on set of PLL: “I always make myself the same breakfast whenever I’m homesick. I’ll even share some tarta humita with my cast mates. I always have my jersey from our fútbol team with me at all times, too. The inevitable is that I will miss my home and my family, but I try to make it easier howeverI can.”
