Questlove Enlisted to Direct Live-Action ‘The Aristocats’

Questlove has signed on to direct Disney’s live-action hybrid of The Aristocats. Deadline was the first to report the news.

A source told the news site, “Thompson is directing, serving as executive producer, and overseeing music for the film with script by Will Gluck and Keith Bunin. Tarik Trotter, Shawn Gee, Zarah Zohlman will exec produce on behalf of Two One Five Entertainment.”

Based on the animated 1970 movie, “In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it’s up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.”

What a great pick for the directing role! I can’t wait to see what he does with the music for this movie.
