Marvel Studios Takes Over Hall H at SDCC
Marvel Studios took over Hall H today, July 27 at San Diego Comic-Con! Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige hit the stage after Marvel kicked off the panel with a full choral performance of “Like a Pryer” to celebrate the studios new movie, Deadpool & Wolverine.
The first movie the studio focused on was Captain America: Brave New World. Anthony Mackie, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Giancarlo Esposito, who confirmed he is playing Sidewinder, were all on hand to reveal exclusive footage. The crowd was also surprised by an appearance from Harrison Ford, who plays President Thaddeus Ross. The story follows Sam Wilson, who after meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, finds himself in the middle of an international incident. Sam must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World opens in U.S. theaters February 14, 2025.
The next movie to take the stage was Thunderbolts*. Director Jake Schreier took the stage alongside stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour. Harbour showed up in full Red Guardian garb, and the crowd was treated to a scene from the movie. Thunderbolts* opens in theaters on May 2, 2025.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the new title of the movie, was next to take the Hall H stage. With production kicking off this Tuesday, July 30, Director Matt Shakman and Marvel’s first family, Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/Thing) hit the stage to chat their new movie. During their portion, they all shared some cosmic details about the upcoming moviethat sees Galactus and Silver Surfer target Earth for destruction. Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25, 2025.”
Lastly, fans got the first details on the next two Avengers movies. Anthony and Joe Russo, will return to Marvel Studios to helm Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2027 and Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026. Robert Downey Jr. will play the iconic Marvel villain, Doctor Doom. Robed figures dressed in Doctor Doom masks took the stage and then parted to reveal Robert Downey Jr.
I am not sure I love the casting of RDJ as Doctor Doom. I understand why they did it, but I was really hoping someone new would take on the role. I guess we don’t always get what we want.
