John Lithgow in Talks to Play Professor Dumbledore in New ‘Harry Potter’ Series

HBO’s Harry Potter series may have found its Dumbledore. Deadline is reporting, John Lithgow is in final talks to play the headmaster of Hogwarts Schoo of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Albus Dumbledore.

HBO has refused to comment on the potential casting, but with production set to begin later this year they are going to have to start confirming casting soon. The series will premiere on the netowrk in late 2026/the beginning of 2027.

What do you think of the potential casting choice? I don’t love that he isn’t from the United Kingdom, but he has proven he can play British characters before, so we shall see.
